GPS maker Mio has revealed that it cut 60 percent of its workforce after parent company Mitac purchased Magellan this past December. While it was recently reported that Mio had decided to leave the United States portable navigation device market behind, Mio sales and marketing vice president Jerry Barbera told Twice that the brand hopes to maintain the number four or five spot for US PND sales. However, he also acknowledged that Magellan would likely drive Mitac’s US sales. If that’s the case, Mio has confirmed it is looking at offering other GPS-centric products such as netbooks or smartphones.
