Mio Says Real-Time Content Is King, Partners With ATX Group

by Justin on April 3, 2008

MioIn an effort to follow the real-time data trend penetrating the GPS market, Mio Technology has entered into an agreement with ATX Group.  Later this year, Mio plans to release GPS units that feature ATX’s content delivery capabilities, meaning we’ll likely see Mio models with real-time traffic updates, current and future weather information and specific local information to help you better navigate your immediate surroundings.  “Content is king in the future of PND’s”, says Mio’s Kiyoshi Hamai, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing.

ATXATX Group has plenty of experience with in-vehicle telematics, gaining “tremendous insight into the types of content users want when navigating the roads and how to present that information in a clear, intuitive way”, says Shiva Kalisetty, ATX’s Vice President for Business Development.  Integrating there product into PND’s just seems to be a logical progression.

Expect pricing and product availability dates later in 2008.
