Sony Location-Based Music Search Patent Brings Geotagging To Mobile Social Networking
GPS applications are starting to attract more attention than actual portable GPS devices these days, and a new patent filed by Sony looks to capitalize on memories associated with song. Just imagine you and your girlfriend were on vacation somewhere and had a romantic dinner while a song played in the background. Whether or not that dinner is a good memory or a bad one, you probably associate that song and place where it occurred with the dinner. The Sony patent filed for the Sony Ericsson mobile phone line looks to be the first move in the development of a location-based music search engine that could bring a geo-located list of all of your favorite songs to your cellphone. The patent titled “Location dependent music search” details how users would be able to geotag songs by location or search for songs based on a certain location. Welcome to the world of music/location-based social networking on your cell phone.
