Sprint Centro’s 1.07 Update: Support For My Location Feature On Google Mobile Maps

Owners of Palm Centro smartphones will be happy to know they’ll be finally getting an update that brings some new features to Centro’s on the Sprint network.  Yes that’s right, only for the Sprint network.  But if your Centro is carried by the Sprint network, one new feature of interest is support for the My Location feature on Google Mobile Maps.  This way you’ll be able to simply select “My Location” rather than input your address making it easier to find POIs, directions and check local traffic.

The Google Maps My Location feature doesn’t actually use GPS to approximate your location.  It uses cell tower triangulation so it’ll only work in your wireless coverage area.  Once you’ve downloaded the software update, which apparently can take up to an hour, you’ll also have to download the latest version of Google Mobile Maps.
