Motorola Blur: Rumored custom Android skin with a Twitter, Facebook focus

motorola logo Motorola Blur: Rumored custom Android skin with a Twitter, Facebook focusMotorola’s mobile future is heavily dependent, if not completely dependent, on how well it can utilize Google’s Android operating system in the future.  The company has Android handsets in the pipeline for late in 2009 and I’m actually pretty excited to see what it can come up with.  If the Boy Genius Report has accurate tipsters, it looks like the new “Hello Moto” phones may be worth the wait.

According to BGR, Motorola’s Android line will have a customized user interface on top of what will likely be a heavily modified OS.  Something like what HTC has done with its Android-based Hero.  Supposedly called ‘Blur’, the custom OS and interface is said to take a page out of Palm’s webOS playbook, seamlessly integrating the user’s personal contacts and social network accounts into a single interface on the phone.  The web-connected OS is also said to have a device key that will allow all of your online social network updates from the likes of Twitter and Facebook to be pushed automatically to your phone.  Updates will work in the same way, over the air.

All of this has come from an unknown (to me, at least) tipster, so none of it is confirmed.  But if the internet has taught me anything, it’s that mobile phone-related rumors tend to pan out pretty accurately the vast majority of the time!
