MSI’s Wind U120 netbook is up for preorder at Amazon. The sequel to the MSI Wind 100, the U120 series actually consists of three models: the MSI Wind U120-001US, the MSI Wind U120-024US, and the MSI Wind U120-020US.
Overall, specs are similar to the U100, but there are a few differences. All the U120 models add support for 802.11n Wi-Fi and boast a 6-cell battery. There are also distinct mouse buttons for left and right clicks below a touchpad, whereas the U100 had a single button and rocker dial. One really cool feature common to the U120 line is the facial recognition software. Rather than typing in a username and password to log in, you just flip on your webcam and the computer will recognize you.
You should know there is the odd discrepancy among the spec sheets provided by retailers. J&R is also accepting preorders for the three models, but its spec sheets say that the U120-020US has Bluetooth, 802.11n, and a 160GB hard drive while the other two have 120GB of storage and lack support for Bluetooth and 802.11n. Just a heads-up. Buyer beware.
By the way, prices range from $379.99 to $429.99.
