Navigon 2000S Gets Reviewed: Navigon’s Getting Better

CNET is known to be hard on Navigon PND’s and rightfully so.  While they typically offer pretty good value for your dollar, they tend to lack the feature execution of comparable devices from manufacturers like Garmin, resulting in a frustrating user experience.  And it seems that the Navigon 2000S falls into the usual category after being reviewed by CNET.  Its general performance has improved and it does offer features such as advanced lane guidance and text-to-speech, but it has two huge problems.  Number one, its satellite acquisition times are horribly slow.  And number two, should you miss a turn, by the time the Navigon 2000S recalculates your route you’ll have probably missed another.  The upside is for the features it does offer, it has a bargain price tag.
