Digital map maker NAVTEQ is working on expanding the realm of real-time information available with the beta launch of Air Travel Status and Fuel Prices. Air Travel Status tracks the departure and arrival times for most US domestic flights and includes other airport-specific travel information such as current weather conditions, delay status, and security line wait times.
Fuel Prices is a dynamic point-of-interest system that tracks fuel prices matched to gas stations on NAVTEQ’s maps. It’ll enable drivers to find the most economical gas prices in a given area, and will include prices for diesel, ethanol/E85, regular, mid-grade, and premium gasoline.
NAVTEQ plans to commercially launch the dynamic content additions in the first quarter of 2009, followed by a European release thereafter.
