NAVTEQ has expanded its South American coverage by announcing today navigable maps for Chile and Venezuela.
Initial coverage for Chile includes 57, 000 kilometers of road coverage, while Venezuela will launch with 86, 000 kilometers. Each road segment will have up to 260 attributes including things such as road barriers and turn restrictions to aid in reliable turn-by-turn navigation with portable GPS devices.
NAVTEQ also debuted map coverage of Brazil and Argentina last year.
In other NAVTEQ news, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or the American state of Virginia to most of us, has licensed NAVTEQ’s enterprise-grade map data and datasets for use in its government information technology services.
