navteqlogo NAVTEQ pushes emerging markets with Intermediate Maps for 2 more South American countriesMapping company NAVTEQ announced yesterday the immediate availability of Intermediate Maps for Colombia and Peru. Intermediate Maps are typically used when NAVTEQ decides to push into an emerging market, and while they don’t require the same standards as NAVTEQ’s main base map, the nomenclature indicates that the maps (for Peru and Colombia in this case) represent the best third party content currently available.

NAVTEQ claims that its Peru maps 77, 000 kilometers of roads and 12, 000 points of interest; its Colombia maps cover 82, 000 kilometers of roads and include 48, 000 POIs.
