This isn’t a huge surprise or anything but at least it’s a confirmation. Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer has confirmed netbooks will ship with a “slimmed-down” version of Windows 7. Whether or not the bare bones version is one of the Windows SKU’s announced at the beginning of February is unknown. At that time, Microsoft said there wouldn’t be a netbook-specific version of Windows 7 but that beta tests had confirmed a full-featured version of the operating system could run on netbooks.
