The iPhone rumor mill is spinning again with word Apple will release a new model in June or July of this year.
Apple is set to show off a new version of its iPhone software at a media event March 17 as well as a new developer SDK. Several Wall Street analysts believe this could be a prelude to a new iPhone, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Also adding fuel to the rumor is United Kingdom-based O2’s plan to cut the price of the current 3G iPhone. As of May, O2 will offer the 3G iPhone for free on £35 and £45 per month data plans for the 8 GB and 16 GB models, respectively. Currently the 8 GB model is only free with £45 and £75 plans while the 16 GB is free with a £75 montly contract.
According to the UK’s Mobile Today, O2 is likely looking to clear inventory for a new iPhone or iPhone nano. Additionally, it is rumored to O2 competitor Orange is also in talks with Apple to bring the next-generation iPhone to the UK.
