Google has updated its imagery of Tehran in Google Earth courtesy of snapshots from the GeoEye satellite. The imagery was taken June 18 at roughly
11:18 AM local time in Tehran at a resolution of roughly 1 meter per pixel. According to the Google LatLong blog, the company is hoping GeoEye’s IKONOS satellite will be able to update the imagery of Tehran again at 0.5 meters per pixel. You can download this KML file to check out the new Tehran images. I find that the recent images add an important measure of context to the political upheaval in the territory. From a western perspective it makes the situation much more tangible.
