Nextar has been fairly quiet as of late, other than its Q4 debut back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show. Today, however, I’ve come across a review of the Nextar M3-03, and contrary to other recent Nextar GPS reviews, the M3-03 looks like a solid buy.
The 3.5-inch PND features NAVTEQ maps of the United States displayed on an interface based on Netropa’s OEM navigation software, 1.6 million points of interest, an SD card slot, multisegment trip management, 2D/3D map views, solid directions and clear quick prompts.
The only real caveat is that if you buy the M3-03 in-store make sure you buy a model shipped in 2009. The PCMag reviewer had to ship back the first review unit with an older software version on it due to a variety of problems. If you order online, make sure you check the return policy of the retailer you buy from just in case you get an older model.
In any case, even though GPS prices continue to drop, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a PND that only costs $92.
