On Tuesday, Nokia rolled it latest smartphone into view of consumers. The S60 5th Edition Nokia 5230 features a 3.2-inch touchscreen, assisted GPS navigation with Ovi Maps 3.0, Bluetooth, and access to the Ovi Store from which consumers can download applications, music and games. The 5230 also has a Media Bar allowing quick access to favorite apps and media and a Contact Bar, which provides thumbnails and quick contact information for up to 20 key contacts.
In compatible markets, the Nokia 5230 will also be preloaded with Nokia’s Comes With Music service, enabling unlimited music downloading after the phone is purchased. The added functionality will cost a few extra bucks though. With Comes With Music, the 5230 will cost 249 euros (US $371); without it will cost 149 euros (US $213).
When it ships in the fourth quarter of 2009, the Nokia 5230 will also have a 2 megapixel camera and access to 850/1900 MHz North American 3G bands, as well as a variety of different colored backplates.
