Nokia 5800 XpressMusic rumored to arrive in North America February 26 for $399

nokia 5800 nam 1 Nokia 5800 XpressMusic rumored to arrive in North America February 26 for $399Nokia’s 5800 XpressMusic will hit major retailers in North America on February 26, according to The Nokia Blog.  While this hasn’t been confirmed by Nokia, the blog says the date has been confirmed by a “major distributor” which also revealed a US$399 price tag.  I take it, if this is true, that $399 is the unlocked price, as its October 2008 release in Europe included an equivalent $227 price tag.  Of course, $399 is just a suggested retail price, so it could be lower or higher.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has been extremely popular in Europe and Asia, selling over 1 million units as of the end of January.  It’s the first Symbian S60 touchscreen handset sporting a 3.2-inch haptic touchscreen, assisted GPS, and an emphasis on integration with Nokia Come With Music online song service.

Whether or not it’ll be a success in North America is a tough one to call.  Research in Motion’s Blackberry and Apple’s iPhone absolutely dominate at the moment, and while Nokia hasn’t been on the North American radar in a while, the 5800 is the best product Nokia has shipped this way in a long time.

I don’t know–are you going to buy one?
