Nokia, Facebook talking partnership

986548379 2a0d99d1ae m Nokia, Facebook talking partnershipFacebook and Nokia have been discussing a potential partnership for months, according to The Wall Street Journal.  Sources say the partnership could lead to parts of Facebook being integrated in select Nokia phones.  For instance, users could look up their contacts on the phone and see who is logged in to Facebook.

Apparently, Nokia is unsure if it wants the partnership to go through for a couple of reasons.  One, the company is working on branding its own internet business and could choose to build its own social network.  And two, it doesn’t want to share subscriber information with Facebook.

If the partnership succeeds, it would definitely help Facebook expand its reach into emerging markets where Nokia reigns.  The social network is already the most popular on mobile, with 7 million US visitors in December 2008.  Nokia and Facebook are expected to announce something in Spain next week, though likely not a full partnership.
