Nvidia’s got $99 MIDs with HD video playback, days-long battery life coming

Nvidia is working with partners to build a $99 mobile internet device capable of playing high-definition graphics, reports VentureBeat.  The MIDs will run on Windows CE or Android and be powered by Nvidia’s Tegra chips, which are so power-efficient that battery life could be up to 10 times that found on Intel Atom-powered netbooks and other mobile devices.  The 4 to 12 inch MIDs will be capable of playing high-definition movies and have an always-on internet connection over 3G networks or Wi-Fi.  While they could be used to make VoIP calls over Skype and other such networks, the primary purpose of Nvidia’s MID won’t be to make phone calls, something not enabled by Windows CE.  The company says the first MIDs could be available this summer along with its $299 Ion netbooks and upward of $599 GeForce graphic-enabled notebooks.
