Confirming rumors last week that it would cut its 3G iPhone prices, the United Kingdom’s O2 has announced price cuts.
Beginning April 3, O2 UK customers will be able to get an 8 GB iPhone for free when they sign a 2-year contract with a minimum £34.26/month data plan. The 16 GB iPhone will also be free with a minimum £44.05/month data plan for two years. Customers hoping to opt for an 18 month commitment will still have to pay current prices.
O2 customers currently have to pay nearly twice as much per month for two years in order to get a free iPhone.
The price cuts likely indicate O2 is attempting to clear its 3G iPhone inventory in preparation for a 2009 model to be released in June or July.
