OCZ Technology has come out with a new line of solid-state drives dubbed the Apex series. A mid-range line in terms of price, the Apex SSD’s all have a 2.5-inch form factor with a 300 MB/s Serial ATA interface, and “internal RAID 0 architecture” with an “updated controller design” for 230 MB/s read speeds and 160 MB/s write speeds. The Apex series is available in three versions: 60 GB for $200, 160 GB for $370, and 250 GB for $830 (geez, production costs must skyrocket above 160 GB). OCZ says the SSD’s have a 1.5 million hour lifespan, but also include a 2-year warranty in case you accuse them of lying.
