Orange cuts Vodafone’s grass, brings first Android handset to France March 5

While the focus on mobile Android is turning to the HTC Magic after its recent debut as the second Android-based smartphone, Orange will launch the HTC Dream, aka G1, in France starting March 5.  This will beat Vodafone’s HTC Magic (G2) release in the same country later this year.

The Orange Dream/G1 will cost €99 with a 2-year contract and the €42 Origami Star Plus plan. The features will be the same as T-Mobile’s G1, with a 3.2-inch TFT touchscreen display, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and digital compass, a 3.2 megapixel camera and full access to the Android Market.
