Palm is offering unlocked Centro GSM handsets for $199 as it appears the company is clearing its mobile phone inventory in preparation for the Pre launch. Available in ruby red, glacier white and cobalt blue, the Palm Centro has a rubberized, full QWERTY keyboard, a 320 x 320 pixel display, either 64 MB or 128 MB of memory, and an SD card slot enabling another 4 GB of expandable memory. Furthermore, Bluetooth, GPS with Google Maps support, a 1.3 megapixel camera, email synchronization and Microsoft Office support.
I understand that Palm is in a bit of a financial bind at the moment, but $199 for a boring old Centro when the Palm Pre is on the way? I don’t think so.
