It’s been a long wait for some developers waiting to create applications for the Palm Pre. But guess what folks? Today, Palm announced that its Mojo SDK is available to everyone. All you’ll need to download the SDK from the company’s new developer portal is an e-mail address.
While Palm’s App Catalog is pretty devoid of application currently (only 9 LBS apps!), the public availability of the SDK should help pick things up pretty quickly. Reviews of the new Palm Pre and webOS operating system have been extremely positive, and the app development process is pretty simple as long as you’re familiar with typical web development languages–HTML, CSS and Javascript.
The company has had 1.8 million apps downloaded from the App Catalog in its first 6 weeks and a swath of new apps are set to go live soon. As for the general public, Palm will be accepting app submissions sometime this fall.
