palmpre Palm Pre gets priced but still no release date

You may have heard the new Palm Pre news by now that emerged during a joint webcast with Sprint yesterday, but if not you didn’t miss much.  Still on track for release in the first half of 2009, the Palm Pre will be available with a variety of data plans.  All plans are part of Sprint’s ‘Everything’ line.  Individuals can grab 450 minutes, 900 minutes, or unlimited minutes for $69.99, $89.99 or $99.99, respectively.  Families can choose 1500 or 3000 minutes for $129.99 or $169.99, or go the unlimited route for $189.99.  Businesses have a choice between five different plans that pool minutes.  The only other two details that emerged were that the Touchstone charger will be sold separately and there will be no voice-only plans.  It would have been nice to get a release date, but I’m guessing we’ll hear more at the CTIA tradeshow next month.

  • Not til the Palm Pre did I really fall in love with smart phones. It's a blackberry-iphone hybrid that is sleek as hell. Pls. I hope they sell this in Europe soon.

Of course, those are the same plans Sprint has been offering for months, if not years, so this really isn't news. Now, if you had a price for the Pre (as your headline says) that would be news.

Unfortunately, it's just another fake headline to grab search engine hits.
