The Palm Pre and webOS that debuted yesterday was nothing short of impressive. In fact it sent Palm’s share price skyrocketing, up 36 percent as of this morning, and had analysts speaking in positive terms for the first time in a while. A nagging rumor could do a little adjustment to Palm’s new share price though.
It’s rumored that–brace yourself–the Palm Pre will suffer from a ridiculous price of $399. I’m hoping that this is the price of a Pre sans contract, because if it’s not all of Palm’s hard work will go down the drain. I think Palm’s Pre and in particular webOS has a few up on the iPhone, but without a similar price point it’s doomed to fail.
