Palm’s new application store being built to house webOS apps will be called the Palm App Catalog, according to the Palm Developer Network blog. The catalog will be on-device–Palm’s Pre for now–so that users can easily download applications to their webOS-based handset. I’m excited to see how this will work out for the company. While it has plenty of competition with iPhone, Android, and soon-to-launch Blackberry app stores, Palm’s Mojo application framework is based on HTML, CSS and Javascript–the same languages used to develop many web apps and the most commonly known among developers. This could give Palm apps an edge.
