Hmmm…figure this one out. The Pharos Traveler 117 GPS smartphone which has been available online at a variety of retailers since the beginning of December, has mysteriously passed through the FCC. The 3G phone emphasizes navigation and comes unlocked so it can be used anywhere in the world, but I’m unsure what the FCC reasoning behind this is. Did Pharos secure a carrier distribution deal, or simply a bricks-and-mortar retail distribution deal? I’m not sure, but the GPS smartphone is already available online, with Amazon sporting the lowest price of $509.
