Pioneer’s AVIC-F Series navigators have been quirky since they were released and Pioneer has finally done something about it. The company says most of the problems were rooted in the computer-like functioning of the F-Series PND’s and related to its boot-up time. The 2.0 firmware update will accelerate the boot-up time, enhance the Bluetooth functioning, and improve the screen response and brightness. Also, the update will smoothen the map-zoom process and improve the USB and SD media playback. Available for Pioneer’s AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT, AVIC-F700BT and AVIC-F7010BT, the 2.0 firmware update can acquired from your nearest dealer, downloaded to an SD card, or ordered from Pioneer.
Additionally, possibly in an attempt to improve face, Pioneer is offering a $100 rebate on the AVIC-F90BT, AVIC-F900BT and AVIC-F700BT Series models until January 6, 2009.
