pocketfinder PocketFinder iPhone, Android app hits 10, 000 downloadsThe PocketFinder application, built by Location Based Technologies, and available for both the iPhone and T-Mobile G1 has hit the 10, 000 download mark in 8 weeks.  The perfect app for keeping tabs on kids and teens, the PocketFinder app allows an authorized user–like a parent–to find the exact location of a person at any time.

PocketFinder will also soon be available in hardware form.  Originally I thought it’d hit shelves by the end of 2008 but now the company has a Q1 release date.  The tiny GPS/GSM device is carried by, for example, your teenager and with authorized access you’ll be able to find the location of him or her via the internet, cellphone or landline.  It can also be used to track vehicle speeds.

When PocketFinder is released this quarter, it will be compatible with both the iPhone and Android apps.
