QStarz has announced the launch of the Bluetooth-enabled BT-Q1000X Travel Recorder, just a couple of weeks after the release of its GPS Sports Recorder-Explore 2000. The next-generation of the BT-Q1000, the BT-Q1000X features the newer MediaTek MTK II chipset that boasts 66 channels and utilizes assisted GPS to improve position fix time to only 15 seconds and battery life to 42 hours.
The multi-mode travel recorder can be used for a variety of different activities including driving, jogging, and cycling. Not only does it provide a navigational mode, it enables the user to easily switch to a waypoint logging mode in which 200, 000 points can be stored. Once back at your computer, the data can be visualized in GPX / PLT / CSV / NMEA / Google Earth file formats using the included Travel Recorder PC Utility v4.0 software. The software has an easy-to-use Wizard with built-in Google Maps, multi-language support, and a visualization user interface. You can also set the program to default the data output to Google Earth.
The BT-Q1000X also allows waypoints to be stored and used to geotag photographs. Included with the purchase is a lithium-ion battery, car charger, USB cable, free locr account, software CD, and a leather carrying case.
