Rumor: Dell Ophone mini3i Android smartphone coming to China Mobile this week

dell button 150x150 Rumor: Dell Ophone mini3i Android smartphone coming to China Mobile this weekRemember the invisible Dell smartphone, never actually confirmed by Dell, that’s supposedly somewhere in the pipeline?  Back in January, rumors had the Dell smartphone launch in February.  It never appeared, and then in March it had supposedly hit a snag.  Just a day later, Dell refuted reports of the delay–despite never confirming there was a smartphone in the first place.

Today, word leaked that Dell would be launching its first smartphone–maybe running Windows Mobile, maybe running Android–in China within the next day or two.  Dell is said to be releasing two phones in the future–one running WinMo and one running Android.  Given that this rumor places the launch in China, I’m betting it’ll be the Android version if the release actually pans out.

Update
: MobileCrunch reports that the Dell phone will run on Android and be named the Ophone mini3i.  The Ophone nomenclature refers to Android phones running on the China Mobile network.  This means that the Dell phone will run on China Mobile’s proprietary 3G standard TD-SCDMA
