I’m not sure what to make of this, but a discussion at Howard Forums seems to indicate that Verizon Wireless may have partially unlocked the GPS on Blackberry’s Curve 8330 and Pearl 8130. I say ‘partially’ because it seems like a satellite fix is only attainable with Blackberry Maps. No other mapping system worked, and I also should mention that it only seems to work with OS 4.5. You need to select the Internal GPS option to get a fix and the option is not available on Blackberry Maps for OS 4.3. Whether or not this is an intentional move on the part of Verizon I’m not sure. It only seems to work with the two handsets mentioned for the moment.
