SanDisk has been heavily focused on solid state drives lately.  The drives, designed to be drop-in replacements for hard disk drives, will be a prominent storage feature in netbooks and notebooks in 2009.  This week at CES, SanDisk is following up its recent pSSD line announcement with the debut of its G3 series.  The company claims the G3’s are the world’s fastest multi-level cell SSD’s running 5 times faster than current HDD’s and twice as fast as 2008 SSD’s.

The G3 series comes in two variants, the SSD C25-G3 and SSD C18-G3.  Available in 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch form factors, the G3’s are available with a SATA-II interface running 40, 000 RPM, 200 MB read, and 140 MB write.  Expected to sell in mid-2009 in 60 GB, 120 GB, and 240 GB storage sizes, the G3’s will cost $149, $249, and $499 respectively.
