Jane Goodall, a woman who spent here life in the wild studying gorillas, would be thrilled to know Sanyo Japan is preparing a couple more Gorillas for the wild. Of course, in this case I’m referring to Sanyo’s Gorilla GPS line but we all have to make compromises.
Sanyo’s Gorilla NVA-GS1609FT and Gorilla NVA-GS1409DT both pack in 32-channel GPS reception, FM reception, 1-seg terrestrial digital TV, CD/DVD playback, 4 43 Watt speakers, and a backup camera. Each also has a large 7-inch widescreen QVGA display and a variety of input and output terminals. The only difference between the two is the size of their built-in solid state drives. The GS1609FT features a 16 GB SSD while the GS1409DT has a smaller 8 GB SSD. The solid state drives house the mapping data providing extra room for multimedia storage, the latter of which can be augmented by SD card/USB/iPod USB storage.
Both in-dash navigation systems are slated for a late June release though prices have yet to be disclosed.
