In order to compete in the GPS chip market these days companies are forced to integrate as many components onto a GPS chip as possible, in such a way that they don’t interfere with each other. SiRF has finally launched the SiRFlinkIII, supposed to be released way back in 2006, optimizing both a GPS RF front end and Bluetooth 2.1functionality for pre-integration with its System on a Chip platforms, SiRFFatla and SiRFPrima.

SiRF claims that the SiRFlinkIII passed interoperability tests with over 150 mobile handsets, with no interference between Bluetooth and GPS signals. Not only will this solution enhance mobile handset Bluetooth and GPS performance, claims SiRF, it’ll drastically improve system performance for PNDs while simplifying the design process and slashing the time-to-market for manufacturers.
