Surprise, surprise, more bad news for GPS chipmaker SiRF.  A US International Trade Commission judge ruled yesterday that SiRF did indeed infringe six patents related to GPS positioning and sensitivity held by rival Broadcom.  This has been an ongoing battle for a while now-SiRF lost a trial earlier this year that also found evidence of infringement and a final decision will be made by a six person panel in early December.  SiRF has taken the war over the patents which apparently relate to among other things the company’s SiRFstarIII and SiRFInstant chipsets quite seriously, filing its own infringement suit against Broadcom earlier this year.  A separate Trade Commission judge ruled in favor of Broadcom in June.  Hit the read link for the full press release.
