Sony’s aging Vaio G3 ultraportable notebook line is getting a four member addition. All the new G3’s sport 4:3, 12.1-inch LED-backlit displays with 1024 x 720 resolution, Intel GMA X4500HD graphics, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, DDR3 1066 MHz memory, SD card and memory stick slots, and a biometric fingerprint scanner.
The models only seem to differ in processing power and drive choice. One G3 will pack in a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo SU9300 CPU while the other three sport the more powerful 1.4GHz Core 2 Duo SU9400. Other options include 1/2 MB of RAM, a 120/160 GB hard drive, or a 64 GB solid state drive.
Sony hasn’t announced a shipping date, or pricing, but I have a funny feeling the new Vaio G3’s could be confined to Japan.
