Sony’s Vaio P netbook has been the subject of web rumors for a couple of weeks now. But I’ve been waiting to see if any specs would leak before the likely January 6 to January 9 release date before I actually went ahead and posted anything.
The folks from UMPCPortal, via their friends from EeePCNews.de, have got their paws on some unconfirmed information. The Sony Vaio P will run on a 1.33 Ghz Intel Atom Z520 processor with 2 GB of RAM and use Windows Vista (Windows 7-ready) as its native operating system. It will have a hard disk drive of unknown size and an optional SSD. The Vaio P will also feature GPS–finally a netbook that can navigate–and UMTS connectivity and will be priced at 700 Euros or roughly $970 American.
There has been quite a few photoshopped pictures of the Vaio P floating around the blogosphere. The above is the latest image apparently from a MySony member in Hong Kong.
