iPhone Gets Mobileyes Traffic Cams
![]()
Mobileyes, a real-time traffic cam application that lets you see traffic conditions in your city, is now available for both the iPhone and iPod Touch through the iTunes App Store. Available from the Travel section of the app store, Mobileyes will grant you access to live video and still images of roadways in your area right on your iPhone’s display. It uses live traffic cams operated from each city’s local department of transportation in a network that continues to expand and includes Detroit, Hartford, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Knoxville, Los Angeles, New York and Washington, D.C.
After downloading, you simply choose the city you live in and can even program your iPhone’s touchscreen keys to access your favorite cameras quickly. If you happen to be travelling to another supported city, you simply head to ‘Settings’ and choose the ‘Travel’ mode, then pick the city of your choice. Check out the full release after the jump.

Are Your iPhone’s Location-Based Applications Constantly Crashing?
One of the many chronic issues that’s plagued the 3G iPhone since its release a little over a month ago has been third-party application crashes. This seems to have affected all non-default apps, including those location-based. Even the latest 2.0.2 software update has failed to correct the problem which involves the iPhone briefly loading apps before abruptly jumping back to the home screen.
AppleInsider has learned that a fix is planned for next month. A tipster apparently received a reply from Steve Jobs himself regarding the issue stating, “This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September”.
Some speculation exists that the problem stems from improperly set permissions to run the apps, but regardless of the problem’s cause, this is just another issue that’s taken previously rabid Apple fans down a notch. Remember, many who updated to the 2nd generation iPhone from last year’s model had upgraded for the sole purpose of 3rd party app support. Hopefully Mr. Jobs will live up to his word and we’ll get a final fix next month.

Quibblo: A Location-Aware Polling Widget For The 3G iPhone

The Quibblo Polls widget for the 3G iPhone is a free location-aware widget-based application available from the iTunes App Store powered by WHERE. Quibblo says they are “not a traditional social network, but rather a distributed platform that enables users to collect valuable input from the broader community where others are able to weigh in on the topics that interest them, be it here at Quibblo.com or on any site that uses our technology”. With the app you can create your own polls, surveys, or quizzes, take polls developed by others, and then look through results by geography. In fact, you can narrow down survey results by others who have taken it within a 10 mile radius of your location.
You can also display polls on your web-based social networks such as Facebook and add friends like any typical social site. And just today Quibblo added a new feature that allows you to upload an image to the title of your quiz adding a whole new dimension of possibilities for this unique social network. For those of you that decide to download Quibblo for you iPhone, you’ll also be able to access other WHERE-powered apps such as Buddy Beacon.
