Take A Picture With Mio’s New “PND Camera”

Not only is Mio hitting the mobile phone market, but now they’ve debuted a “PND camera” as well.  At Taiwan’s Computex conference, Mio’s showcasing the camera which integrates a GPS radio into a digital camera, and while specs are minimal at the moment, we do know the new PND camera will have a 3.5-inch touchscreen and a built-in photo geotagger.

GPS applications are starting to attract more attention than actual portable GPS devices these days, and a new patent filed by Sony looks to capitalize on memories associated with song. Just imagine you and your girlfriend were on vacation somewhere and had a romantic dinner while a song played in the background. Whether or not that dinner is a good memory or a bad one, you probably associate that song and place where it occurred with the dinner. The Sony patent filed for the Sony Ericsson mobile phone line looks to be the first move in the development of a location-based music search engine that could bring a geo-located list of all of your favorite songs to your cellphone. The patent titled “Location dependent music search” details how users would be able to geotag songs by location or search for songs based on a certain location. Welcome to the world of music/location-based social networking on your cell phone.

amod-tm.jpgThese days when you take a picture with your digital camera, the camera applies some information to each photo such as the time it was taken, etc, etc.  A few cameras are hitting the market now that also add location-based info to photos via GPS, but for many of us the only way to add location data to our pics is through geotagging.  The ways of doing this are becoming endless, whether they be through GPS data loggers, SD cards or computer software.  Wired Mag’s website has an excellent tutorial covering the ins and outs of geotagging photos which all of you aspiring photographers out there should definitely check out.
