HTC S740 Slider Phone: Assisted GPS, Four Row QWERTY Keyboard, Coming To Europe In September

When it comes to innovative mobile handset designs, HTC takes the cake and their latest S740 slider phone is no exception to the rule.  Running on Windows Mobile 6.1 and powered by a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225 processor, the HTC S740 has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 2.4-inch QVGA display, 256MB of RAM and a 3.2 megapixel camera.  Not only does is the S740 compatible with all four GSM bands and 900 and 2100 MHz UMTS bands, it also offers full support for 3G HSDPA.  Other features of note include assisted GPS,  WiFi, and HTC’s proprietary ExtUSB port combining USB 2.0 and an audio jack.  Look for the HTC S740 to hit the European continent in September for an unknown-as-of-yet price tag.

Is The HTC Dream Coming In 2008 Or Not? The Latest: A Live Video Leak

Is HTC’s Android phone Dream coming this year or not, that is the question.  Rumor had it last week that HTC’s Dream would be released in early 2009 rather than the expected 4th quarter 2008 release, and we wondered if a possible Google acquisition of Sprint could be behind the delays.  Since then HTC has vehemently denied any delay and a possible live video leak of the HTC Dream has surfaced.  What’s the verdict?  This is getting so frustrating.

Touch Diamond News: Android-Based Handsets In 4th Quarter, CDMA Version From Sprint This Month, GSM Version Before Christmas

Despite the fact that Google has announced a delay in the release of their mobile Android platform and rumors of a possible merger with Symbian, the big name behind the operating system HTC says everything is on track for a 4th quarter release.  The company behind the wildly popular Touch Diamond handset which is already available with 50 wireless carriers in over 30 countries, says they’ll begin shipping Android-based handsets to ODM clients in the 4th quarter.

On a slightly different note, a recent writeup in The China Post states that Sprint will be getting a CDMA version of the HTC Touch Diamond this month, and despite the fact that HTC wasn’t planning on releasing a GSM version to avoid competing with Apple’s iPhone, a GSM Touch Diamond is apparently on its way to North America before Christmas.
