Tele Atlas Selected By ESRI To Power StreetMap Premium

Latest North American and European Data Foundation for Optimal Geocoding, Routing and Map Display

SAN DIEGO –(Business Wire)– Jul 14, 2009 Tele Atlas, a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location based solutions, announced that Tele Atlas digital map data will be added to the upcoming version of ESRI StreetMap Premium. The enhanced street database works with ESRI’s ArcGIS software to provide geocoding, routing and high quality map display.

The optimized data structure of StreetMap Premium, achieved through ESRI’s Smart Data Compression format, ensures ease of use with ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS Desktop to deliver the highest address geocoding match rates, generate the best routes and driving directions and produce superior base maps. StreetMap Premium users have the flexibility to license the latest Tele Atlas maps by geography (continent, region, country or state/province) and by business function (e.g., display, geocoding, and/or routing).

“The Tele Atlas data in ESRI StreetMap Premium enables rich cartographic display, superior geocoding and efficient cross-border route planning with turn-by-turn instructions,” said Christophe Charpentier, ArcGIS content product manager, ESRI. “This is the same high quality digital map that powers ESRI applications such as ArcGIS Business Analyst, ArcPad and ArcGIS Online.”

“ESRI StreetMap Premium allows users around the world to easily load the latest Tele Atlas maps as a convenient, single source,” said Todd Schmitt, enterprise markets manager, Tele Atlas. “We are proud to continue our longstanding support of ESRI’s integrated ArcGIS platform with fresh maps, developed using stringent processes and enhanced with community input, to add even more value to ESRI’s offerings.”

StreetMap Premium’s specification ensures its compatibility with the latest versions of ESRI’s ArcGIS applications, with coordinated releases to ensure data synchronization as well as format consistency over time.

ESRI and Tele Atlas also announced this week an expanded agreement that makes Tele Atlas digital maps and content available in a growing number of ESRI’s leading geographic information system (GIS) applications. This includes content for millions of points of interest (POIs) available through ArcLogistics Navigator as well as additional map enhancement products that can further enrich GIS development. The agreement marks an expansion of the companies’ longstanding industry partnership, which began in 1989.

Great article...thanks for sharing. The ESRI UC has been amazing. Have you seen the news that S&K Technologies, a tribally owned Montana company, has purchased a controlling share in TerraEchos Inc. to further development of a geospatially enabled sensor system that will protect high-value critical infrastructure, monitor sensitive perimeters, secure vulnerable borders and solve other domestic security issues. The S&K investment will enable TerraEchos to scale up the Adelos system, which is a covert geospatial intelligence and surveillance sensor system based on patented U.S. Navy technology. For more information, go to www.terraechos.com or visit Dr. Alex Philp, President of TerraEchos at the ESRI International User Conference in booth #730 within the ESRI Defense Showcase.
