A Thai developer named Pathompol Suebpradist has partially ported Android’s Cupcake development branch to a G1. As developers continue to add features to Android, the evolution of Cupcake will likely result in a full touchscreen for the next version of Android and a full on-screen QWERTY keyboard. The demonstration video demonstrates touchscreen scrolling and the on-screen keyboard. When a key is tapped, the letter pops up in a white bubble above the key. However the partial port doesn’t include video recording, browser find, or MMS saving also included in Cupcake. This does confirm that Android is developing quickly and it’s going to be an interesting 2009 in mobile.
