Anyone who regularly reads this blog knows that I can’t stand privacy advocates–especially those that have it out for Google’s mapping services. So, news that Aaron and Christine Boring lost a case against Google in the Street View privacy department has brought a smile to my face.
The couple alleged last April that Google invaded their privacy, caused mental suffering, and diluted their home value when Street View images were posted that featured pictures of their house beyond “private road” signs. These two money-hungry morons actually wanted $25, 000 in damages!
It wasn’t to be for the Boring’s though, as a US District Court judge through the case out yesterday. As CNET points out, the couple gave themselves more public exposure–and possibly more mental suffering–by filing the lawsuit which involved publicizing their diluted home address and placing a picture of the now hopeless home on the internet.
Good job Google! Thanks for providing a great service! And now we wait for the next group of misguided morons.
