TomTom Go 930T Gets Reviewed

TomTom Go 930T GPSBack in early March, we gave you a quick preview of the TomTom Go 930T and its advanced features such as IQ Routes, which uses historical average speeds to intuitively route you optimally and Advanced Lane Guidance.  While now its available and Pocket-lint got their hands on it and told us everything good and bad they could find.

The front is simply designed featuring nothing more than a 4.3-inch touchscreen, bordered in black, with a power button on top.  All other functions are accessed via the touchscreen.  It has a simple out-of-the-box setup, requiring nothing more than the pressing of the power button.  Traffic information is received every 15 minutes via a TMC aerial and includes a cool work-to-home feature that previews the current traffic situation on your work-to-home route or vice versa.

Deemed the best navigational interface on the market, the traffic reporting apparently isn’t quite up to typical TomTom quality.  Densely trafficked locations weren’t necessarily recorded in a timely fashion, nor were traffic accidents, often appearing after driving the vehicle all the way to the trouble spot.

The advanced IQ Routes feature mentioned above and Advanced Land Guidance, also mentioned, makes sure the user is in the right lane approaching a turn.  Other features include Bluetooth, a built-in FM transmitter, address book, text messaging, and voice commands.  And what’s in the box? Well, a remote control, suction mount, 12V adapter, TMC aeria, desk dock, and the TomTom Home software suite for map uploads.

The final verdict?  This is a premium GPS unit and has all the best of the best features, but you pay big, so make sure you’re going to use everything your dishing out the big bucks for before you do.

The TomTom Go 930T is available at Amazon for $550.
