TomTom has rolled out its Map Update Service for the United States and Canada, enabling TomTom GPS owners to receive quarterly map updates through the subscription service.
Tele Atlas changes its maps about 15 percent per year, so the subscription is probably a good bet. Downloadable through TomTom HOME, map updates are complemented by a 30-day latest map guarantee allowing new PND buyers guaranteed access to the latest maps for free in the first 30 days of ownership, and Map Share which enables users to make map corrections and benefit from the corrections others.
A 1-year subscription costs $39.80 for four updates or single updates can be purchased for $9.95 each.
