roadtourlogo Using a portable GPS device to keep kids occupied during long drives (Famous Locations)“Are we there yet?”  It’s a ubiquitous phrase that every child says during long road trips.  And it gets annoying.  But a new GPS-related entertainment product could make road trips a little more interesting–even for kids.  British software developers RoadTour have taken a database of movie locations built over 8 years at Famouslocations.com and adapted it for Garmin GPS units and Windows Mobile devices.  Over 6000 locations where film scenes were shot are covered across the United Kingdom.  So, when you’re driving around you’ll be alerted whenever you’re passing by a piece of geographical film history.

The simple software installation works with most Garmin nuvi models, all Garmin Zumo models, and a variety of Garmin StreetPilot units.  Pretty well any Windows Mobile device with GPS is also supported.  It’ll cost you to keep those kids quite though, to the tune of £19.95.  Ah, definitely a small price to pay.
