It’s assumed that Sprint will have an exclusive on the Palm Pre until at least the end of 2009. Some parties even believe it could be longer. But the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Verizon Wireless will begin carrying the Pre in its stores during January 2010. I think it’s pretty likely this will happen. Palm is depending on the success of the Pre for its very survival and the more distribution it can get, the better. With Sprint’s struggles in keeping its customers I don’t know if I’d bet on it to bring Palm back from the dead.
Granted, the first couple of days were good for Pre sales. Even with inventory shortages, analysts believe at least 50, 000 Pres were sold in the first two days of availability alone.
