The popular WHERE application from uLocate Communications is available for the T-Mobile G1 today.

The free download can be found in the Android Market and includes a plethora of location-based content widgets including Yelp, Eventful, and ZipCar among many others.  Other widgets can help you find the nearest Starbucks, the lowest gas prices nearby, and tell you what the weather forecast is for the next 5 days.

WHERE for Android also has a few previously unseen features including New, Movies, Traffic (coming in the near future), and something called the WHERE Wall.  I’m not sure at the moment exactly what the WHERE Wall is, but I’m guessing it’s probably some sort of messaging platform like Twitter or a location-based update ticker like the Brightkite Wall.

We’ve talked about the WHERE app quite a bit on this blog, as it was one of the earliest success stories in the nascent LBS industry.  From the early days of Buddy Beacon, uLocate has turned WHERE into a brand unto itself, available on countless handsets including the iPhone.  The company also has carrier relationships with pretty well every major wireless provider in the United States and a major partnership with Garmin that we’re sure will bring forth more exciting announcements in the future.  Unfortunately in Winnipeg, where I’m currently located, we still don’t have the G1 and probably won’t have an Android phone anytime in the future.  Basically meaning I can’t try out WHERE for Android myself.  But if you’ve grabbed it from the Android Market or plan to, let us know what you think in the comments!
