Bi-national military defense agency NORAD has teamed up with Google to track Santa’s journey across the globe as he delivers presents–and in some cases coal–to the world’s children. Using a combination of NORAD’s North Warning radar system, satellites, high-speed digital cameras called Santa Cams, and fighter jets, the agency keeps tabs on the jolly guy and plots his position in real-time on Google Maps. As I write this, it is already Christmas Day in the Eastern Hemisphere and Santa is busy at work in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
If you want to watch Santa’s progress in 3 dimensions, you can install Google Earth on you computer, download a NORAD Tracks Santa file, and then watch him fly through mountains, urban buildings and other 3D structures.
